The Resource Description Framework (RDF) is a standard for representing information on the Internet. Its basic information element is a subject-predicate-object statement. A set of such statements is called a "graph". If the statements of a graph have some of their components in common, they form a net of relations. Using a standardized vocabulary for encoding the statements allows graphs of different origins to be merged. Thus, by connecting them via the Internet a global database could be established which a computer is able to navigate on its own to search for a particular piece of information or to perform more sophisticated tasks. |
